Home Repair and Rehab Loan

Assembly Bill 267, now 2023 Wisconsin Act 17

Funding available: $50 million

Qualified Wisconsin homeowners may apply for the Home R&R Loan to repair and/or rehabilitate their single-family residence by applying with your local participating lender.

Financing will be available from participating lenders until all funds have been distributed.

Home R&R Loan parameters:

  • Eligible homeowners of residential buildings can use the loan to repair and/or rehabilitate their home.
  • The loan applicant must occupy the home as their primary residence.
  • The home must have been constructed at least 40 years prior to the date of the loan application.
  • The homeowner's household annual income may not exceed 120% of area median income for the county in which the housing is located, adjusted for family size.
  • Repair and rehabilitation work must be completed by a licensed contractor.
  • Loan amount may not exceed $50,000 or 100% of appraised value, whichever is less.
  • Loan amount also determined by the specific repair and/or rehabilitation work to be completed.

Loan proceeds

Can be used to improve the safety of a home through the removal of:

  • Lead paint
  • Asbestos
  • Mold
  • Other internal environmental contamination

Can be used to renovate a home by repairing or replacing:

  • Flooring, interior walls and ceilings, roof, windows, exterior doors
  • Heating, electrical, or plumbing systems
  • Foundation
  • Insulation
  • Siding
