September 29, 2020

MADISON – Ana Simpson, director of community and economic development for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, has been honored as a 2020 Emerging Leader of Waukesha by the Waukesha County Business Alliance.

The award celebrates young professionals who have shown personal initiative, determination and commitment to their careers and their community. In making its selections, the Alliance considered community service involvement, leadership traits, being a team player, professional achievement, and personal and professional development.

“Congratulations to Ms. Simpson for being recognized as an Emerging Leader of Waukesha,” said WHEDA CEO Joaquín Altoro. “This achievement demonstrates her successful efforts to build and strengthen WHEDA relationships with business leaders and community stakeholders in Waukesha, southeastern Wisconsin and all across the state.”

“At WHEDA, we appreciate the efforts of the Waukesha County Business Alliance and other organizations working to strengthen the economy by representing employers of all sizes,” Simpson said. “It’s an honor to be recognized and I look forward to continuing our engagement with the small businesses and larger industries working to promote equitable employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and access to affordable housing.”

Simpson has an extensive career in retail, business, and corporate banking. She has served on numerous boards and community associations to help expand business development and entrepreneurship opportunities for women, Hispanics, and other diverse populations. As WHEDA’s director of community and economic development, she leads a team focused on sustainable economic development statewide and promotion of financing products and tools that support WHEDA's multifamily lending activity.
