State Senator Alberta Darling and State Representative Evan Goyke join WHEDA Board

State Senator Alberta Darling (River Hills) and State Representative Evan Goyke (Milwaukee) have been appointed to serve as members of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) Board of Directors.

“I’m delighted to welcome both Sen. Darling and Rep. Goyke to our talented and dedicated WHEDA Board of Directors,” said WHEDA Executive Director Wyman Winston.

“As co-chair of the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee, Sen. Darling has vast experience and institutional knowledge that will most certainly be invaluable to the board in fulfilling WHEDA’s critical mission,” Winston said.

“Rep. Goyke has an energy and passion for housing. His current service on the state Assembly’s Committee on Housing and Real Estate makes him a perfect fit for the WHEDA board,” Winston concluded.

WHEDA was created in 1972 by the Wisconsin Legislature to address affordable housing needs.  Its purpose expanded in 1983 to include business and agricultural financing.  WHEDA works closely with lenders, developers, local government, nonprofits, community groups and others to implement its low-cost financing programs.

WHEDA board members include the Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration, the CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, and six public members nominated by the governor and appointed by the state Senate. In addition, one state senator of each party and one representative to the state assembly of each party serve on the WHEDA Board.  Members serve staggered four-year terms.
