WHEDA Commercial Lending Director O’Brien appointed to FHLB Chicago advisory council

The Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago has appointed WHEDA Commercial Lending Director Sean O’Brien to its Community Investment Advisory Council. The Council consists of representatives from community and nonprofit organizations actively involved in providing or promoting affordable housing, community lending, and/or economic development in Illinois or Wisconsin.

“I am honored and thrilled to be appointed to this advisory council and use my affordable housing and community lending experience to support the Federal Home Loan Bank’s important initiatives,” said O’Brien.  “I am very familiar with the Bank’s Affordable Housing Program and see this as a great opportunity to expand affordable housing options in Wisconsin.”

The Community Investment Group of the FHLB Chicago provides financing and direct funding tools that support affordable housing and local community lending efforts of its members. By using its products individually or in combination, members and their community partners can create economically competitive solutions that contribute to the quality of life in the communities they serve.

“The FHLB Chicago is a key resource to advance affordable housing in Wisconsin,” said WHEDA Executive Director Wyman Winston. “I support Mr. O’Brien on this new appointment and look forward to the Community Investment Advisory Council’s continued work to carry out their invaluable financing activities.”

O’Brien’s term is effective January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019. Council members meet quarterly with representatives from the FHLB Chicago's Board of Directors to advise the FHLB Chicago on ways in which it can better carry out its housing finance and community investment missions.
