Cookies

A “cookie” is a small text file that a website can place on your computer's hard drive in order, for example, to collect information about your activities on the site. There are two types of cookies, a “session”cookie or a “persistent” cookie. A session cookie is only used during the current session and then is deleted from your computer. A persistent cookie is stored on your hard drive indefinitely. A web site that has set a cookie can only access those cookies it has sent to you, it cannot access cookies sent to you by other sites.

Cookies are one mechanism for maintaining continuity during a user's visit to a web site. They allow data to be maintained for users' benefit as they navigate a site. This type of cookie is referred to as a “session”or a “state management” cookie. This type of cookie goes away when you terminate your visit to the web site as it is maintained only in your browser's active memory during your session.

Cookies may also be stored on your computer so you can be recognized by a web site on subsequent visits. They can be read by the web site whenever you enter that particular web site. They are often used to save login information on web sites that require visitors to log in each time they visit that web site. They may store information on your unique identifier and the areas of the web site you have visited before. These cookies are stored on your computer's hard drive after you have left your web site visit and, consequently, are often referred to as “persistent” cookies.

You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is sent. Each browser is different, so please check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.

We use cookies on this site in the following way:

Some of the interactive applications use “session” cookies stored in your browser's memory to carry information necessary to the proper operation of the application. Due to this fact, some of the applications will not function properly unless cookies are enabled on your web browser.

WHEDA recognizes our user's privacy concerns and will only use cookies as a helping tool. In general, our site only uses cookies to store temporary information. These cookies are not used for tracking users. Once a session is over, the cookies automatically expire and are deleted after you exit your browser. These cookies are not correlated with individual user identities.
