WHEDA Announces a New Home Buying Guide in Spanish

MADISON (September 28, 2001) -- A new Spanish-language Home Buying Guide will help bridge communication barriers that face Wisconsin's growing Spanish-speaking population.

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) is making the guide available because of Wisconsin's increasing cultural diversity, said Fritz Ruf, WHEDA Executive Director.

"This Spanish guide is a big step for WHEDA in making our Home Mortgage Ownership (Home) Loan fully available to the public," Ruf said. "Wisconsin's Spanish-speaking community will now have the same resource available to English-speaking residents when they have questions regarding a WHEDA Home Loan," Ruf said.

The guide answers common questions from Home Loan applicants. Prospective borrowers can learn if they qualify for a WHEDA loan, get help deciding what type of Home will best suit them, and choose a minimum down payment plan. The Home buying guide also answers questions about the loan process, credit, and closing costs.

WHEDA also has been adding Spanish-language links on its public web site (www.wheda.com).

WHEDA is an independent state authority that works with lenders to provide low-cost financing for housing and small business development in Wisconsin. To obtain a copy of WHEDA's Spanish Home Buying Guide, contact Ron Slade at 414-227-4039 or e-mail ron.slade@wheda.com.
