Using Our Site: A Quick Reference Guide to WHEDA's Web SiteWe have kept our web site structurally simple in order to emphasize the quality of its content and to make navigating, viewing, and reading as user-friendly as possible. Below we give explanations of the following structures and content:
System RequirementsWHEDA's web site is best viewed in a screen resolution of 800x600 pixels in Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later), Netscape 6 (or later), and Firefox. Menu StructureOur Home page contains five product categories, under which you will find information about WHEDA and our products. It also contains links to other pertinent material:
All pages within the site have six dropdown menus across the top which represent the Welcome to WHEDA section and the six product categories:
All pages within the site also have a menu on the left-hand side. This -menu varies from category to category. However, all sidebars contain Using Our Site? and a link to Resources where you will find useful tools and information for that category. NavigationThere are three different ways you can locate the information you need within the WHEDA web site:
Below are some helpful tips to help you get the information you want on WHEDA's web site. On all of the wheda.com pages you will find a Search Box in the upper right corner. For best results, be as specific as possible with your search terms. At its simplest, a query can be a word or a phrase. But with the tips on this page, you can expand the focus of your query to give you more complete results. These tips will get you started with basic query language. Search by Keyword - Here is where you can type in a word or phrase to find the information you want. To perform a simple search: If you type the word lender and click Go, you will get a list of all pages that contain the word lender. Search by Phrase - Use a specific phrase to narrow your search. If you type the phrase "tax credits" with quotation marks around the phrase, you'll get a list of all pages that contain this exact phrase. Another way to link words is to use the + sign. For example, type tax + credits. The search engine will look for both words and your results will be more refined. Search Results - Usually, the results you receive will list the most relevant content first. If you find that your results are not relevant or too broad, try again, adding more specific terms. Browsing our web site can help you to identify the topics for which you are looking. At the top of each page on the WHEDA web site, you will find the Category Navigation Bar. To access the next layer of information within the Category, you simply point to a menu item and click on it with your mouse. To return to your original page, you can use the Back button on your web browser or follow the "breadcrumbs" back to where you started (see below). Selecting the WHEDA logo in the upper left-hand corner of any page will return you to the front page of the web site. Breadcrumbs are a type of navigation bar which consists of links to give you, the user, information about the site's structure or the path you have taken in order to retrace your steps through the site. On WHEDA's web site breadcrumbs are located directly below the header on each page. WHEDA's web site uses path breadcrumbs which show you the path you've taken within the site to get to the page you're currently on. Different routes to a page will produce a different trail of breadcrumbs. For example: Home : Multifamily Professionals : Home Funds : Market Study Providers Or Home : Welcome to WHEDA : Multifamily Professionals : Home Funds Within WHEDA's web site, the page you are currently on will not appear as a hyperlink. The path of pages you took will all be hyperlinks, which allow you to go back the way you came. Links that Open in New Browser WindowsSome links on WHEDA's web site link to sites outside of wheda.com. These links are configured to open in separate browser windows. Closing those windows when you've finished using them will help avoid confusion. Please e-mail WHEDA at info@wheda.com with any problems you may encounter.
