WHEDA Executive Director to Attend Ribbon Cutting at Brodhead Senior VillageMADISON - Antonio Riley, Executive Director for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, (WHEDA®), will join local leaders in Brodhead Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of Brodhead Senior Village. Brodhead Senior Village received $1.6 million in low-income tax credits from WHEDA in 2005 to help finance the 24-unit independent senior living facility, as well as additional financing $523,000 from WHEDA. The Wisconsin Department of Commerce also contributed $500,000. Partners in the development include Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP), Great Lakes Capital Fund, the Green County Housing Partnership Fund and the Bank of Brodhead. "WHEDA believes in supporting developments like this one here in Brodhead, which provides safe, affordable housing for low-income seniors. Brodhead Senior Village allows seniors to remain in the community where they worked and raised their families," said Riley. This project is the first tax credit financing deal that SWCAP has participated in and the first one in Wisconsin for Great Lakes Capital Fund. WHEDA is an independent state authority that works with lenders to provide low-cost financing for housing and small business development in Wisconsin.
