Homebuyer Education

Homebuyer education is the first step towards buying a Home. If you want to save money and become a successful Homeowner, now is the time to get Homebuyer education and obtain the knowledge to make smart choices when it comes to your mortgage financing. Check with your neighborhood lender or local Home counseling agency for classes they have to offer or you may choose one of the options below:

1. Gateway to Home Ownership. Gateway to Home Ownership provides first-time Homebuyers with a network of resources to access credit repair assistance and Homebuyer education. Gateway to Home Ownership will give you the resources you need to save money, purchase a Home you can afford, increase your personal wealth and become a successful Homeowner.
Home counseling agencies in the Gateway to Home Ownership network can provide the Homebuyer education required for WHEDA®'s Rural Initiative Down Payment Assistance program and Partnership Neighborhood Initiative Down Payment Assistance program.
2. Homebuyer Club Workshops. You must attend two (2) workshops which cover Preparing Yourself for Home Ownership: Financial Issues and Process and Responsibilities of Buying and Owning. Each workshop is 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon successful completion of both workshops, you will receive a Completion Certificate.
